Beauty: High-End Makeup – YSL Beauty? Is It Worth The Price You Pay?

Beauty: High-End Makeup – YSL Beauty? Is It Worth The Price You Pay?

Today’s blog post is my first beauty post!

I do love buying makeup, but I am no makeup guru, which is why I held off making a beauty blog post for a long time. My makeup is always more subtle and natural-looking, which is why I don’t tend to post very many makeup pictures on my Instagram.

Today I thought I’d do a makeup haul on my recent purchases from FeelUnique and Debenhams

First off, I’ll start with my haul from FeelUnique, which is a website I absolutely love, as I can find high-street makeup to high-end makeup at discounted prices. You can click my link to receive 15% off your first order with FeelUnique:

I bought a few products as seen in the box below, and the best thing I love about this company is that you can select samples if you spend a certain amount of money on the website

The two products I’m going to mainly talk about is the WunderBrow 1-Step Brow Gel and the Hoola Benefit Bronzer Powder

Hoola Benefit Bronzer & WunderBrow

The WunderBrow 1-Step Brow Gel in Brunette is my favourite eyebrow product that I’ve used for the past year, it makes my eyebrows look natural but more filled-in and it really doesn’t rub off like the many positive reviews on this product. Since trying this product, I honestly wouldn’t try any other product for my eyebrows!

The product comes with a brow brush to comb through your eyebrows once applying the product. I like to use my angled eyebrow brush from EcoTools to apply the product to my eyebrows rather than using the brush inside the WunderBrow tube, as it would apply the product on too thickly.

Below is a picture of my eyebrows after applying the product, and the other makeup used on my face are the…

Benefit ‘POREfessional’ Primer

Estée Lauder Double Wear in 2C1 Pure Beige

MAC Mineralize Skinfinish Natural in Medium Deep

Laura Geller Eyeshadow Pallette in ‘Delectables Delicious Shades of Nude

Kat Von D ‘Tattoo Liner’ Liquid Eyeliner

Too Faced ‘Better Than Sex’ Mascara

I also used the Hoola Benefit Bronzer Powder, which after seeing all of the hype from other YouTubers and beauty bloggers, I decided to purchase one myself to see what the product was all about….and I don’t regret a thing! The bronzer is very well-pigmented so the bronzer can be layered depending on how much contouring you like on your face due to it being a powder. It comes with a little brush in the box, but I like to use my Sigma F86 Tapered Kabuki brush, which gives me more precise angling to apply the contouring using the powder.

But, please can we just take a moment to appreciate how pretty the Laura Geller Eyeshadow Pallette in ‘Delectables Delicious Shades of Nude‘ is, that my best friend got me for Christmas!

Anyway, onto my next haul from Debenhams, I decided to splurge a little on the purchases I made, as I’ve always looked at the Yves Saint Laurent stand from afar, but would never end up buying anything. I’m not going to lie, ever since buying the YSL ‘Black Opium’ perfume, it set me off and I ended up buying a YSL Clutch and then I looked into their beauty collection.

The first product that I want to talk about is the YSL Touche Éclat Blur Primer, which looks absolutely stunning! It looks more expensive than it is and looks very luxury! I just adore the gold packaging and bottle that the YSL Beauty products come in! You only need the smallest amount of primer to apply to your face and it smells lovely, and I’ve never known a primer to smell so nice! Once applied to the face, the gold shimmer is very subtle, so that it isn’t too obvious, but you still get a small hint of glow and is definitely a very good base to apply before your foundation. It is a gel primer, so it is quite a thick primer, and hence why it has a ‘blurring‘ effect.

The second purchase I made was the YSL Touche Éclat Le Teint Foundation in the shade BD40 Warm Sand. It has SPF 22, so provides some protection against UV rays. Again, the packaging for this foundation is absolutely stunning, with the lovely and luxury-looking gold packaging, and the foundation has a pump attached so that it is easy to dispense small amounts of foundation to reduce wastage. I only like to apply one small pump of foundation to my face, and it really does have a ‘flawless coverage‘ like the packaging suggests. If I was to go out for a special occasion, I would normally use two pumps of the foundation to get the maximum coverage.

The final product I bought was the YSL ‘Luxurious’ Mascara for False Lash Effect in High Density Black. It is honestly one of the best mascaras I’ve used in a long time, as they help to separate the lashes, so they don’t look clumpy and they help to add length at the same time. The solution dries fast as well, so it’s useful for quick on-the-go use and you don’t find it smudging and causing the ‘Panda Eye’ look throughout the day.

To finish the look I like to use the YSL Rouge Volupté Shine Oil-in-Stick Lipstick in Shade 44, but be aware with this lipstick that if you’re looking for a more matte look, this lipstick is not for you, as it is more of a glossy lipstick that applies a nude pink colour that is very subtle, so if you want something more obvious and intense, I would try the YSL Rouge Pur Couture range…

After the lipstick, I always apply the YSL Gloss Volupté in Shade 10 Golden on top of the lipstick just to add some gloss and it helps the lipstick to stay on longer! The formula is non-sticky unlike other lip glosses I’ve used in the past, so it’s very nice to apply and stays on for a decent amount of time, given that you don’t try to eat and drink with it on!

The finished makeup look looks something like this…

If you’re wondering what the blonde in my hair is all about, check out my latest blog post on my trip to the hairdressers:

Hair: Hair Colouring – I’ve Dyed My Hair?

In summary to the question in my blog title, the money you pay for high-end makeup is definitely worth it for how long-lasting they are and also how well-pigmented they are compared to your normal high-street makeup, and I don’t regret my purchases at all!

Since YSL was a big part of my blog post, this is what my current YSL collection currently looks like:
