With the UK being hit by on-and-off heatwaves and everyone jetting off on their holidays, I thought it would be a great time to introduce the best foundation for Summer!
Estée Lauder Double Wear Foundations are definitely the perfect foundations for the Summer months! Here’s why I think Double Wear is a beauty saviour…
What is the Double Wear range?
It is a range designed to stay-in-place all day, so your makeup stays flawless and doesn’t rub off onto your clothes or smudge throughout the day. It is made to withstand heat, humidity and those who are on-the-go all of the time. The two products that are spoken about in this blog post are the Estée Lauder Double Wear Foundation and the Estée Lauder Double Wear Light Foundation. They are both designed to last approximately 15 hours.
What finish do the foundations give and do they give the finish that is stated by the brand?
The foundations are both meant to give a ‘natural‘ finish, with the Double Wear (not the Light) having a semi-matte finish, as well as a natural finish. They both do give a ‘natural’ finish in my opinion, but this is assuming you have matched the foundation as close enough to the colour of your skin naturally. The Double Wear Light gives a much more natural finish than the Double Wear, as it has a lightweight formula compared to the Double Wear. The Double Wear Light is also meant to control oil, so it helps to mattify the skin.
Are the foundations as long-wearing as they suggest?
The key seller of this product that has me hooked on buying it every time it runs out is the fact that it really is as long-wearing and as durable as it suggests. I wore the Double Wear on holiday to Las Vegas last year in 40°C dry heat, and my foundation did not melt off at all throughout the day. I jumped in the pool without taking off my foundation and there was still foundation on my face when I used a makeup wipe at the end of the day.
Is there anything you don’t like about the products?
I can’t fault the Double Wear, as the shade matches my skin perfectly, as there were plenty of shades to choose from. It gives amazing coverage and I only need a small blob of foundation for it to go a long way and it helps to even out my skin tone and hide blemishes.
However, I have a couple of faults with the Double Wear Light. There are only 9 shades currently, which made it very difficult to find a shade very close to my skin colour. It was quite difficult to build up an even coverage, as it is only designed to be lightweight and give a sheer to medium coverage. If you have troublesome skin, I would not recommend the Light, but I would definitely recommend the Double Wear, as it has a better buildable coverage.
Would I recommend these foundations to others?
I would highly recommend the Double Wear Foundation because it does exactly what it says on the packaging. It definitely lives up to its title of “UK’s Number One Foundation“! Both products dry quickly and don’t have that horrible, sticky foundation feeling. The durability of this product is definitely why I would recommend this product. I’ve never used a foundation that has lasted all day and doesn’t rub off. If you’re visiting a hot country whether it’s humid or dry heat, I’d highly recommend this foundation.
However, with the Double Wear Light, I’d only recommend this if you’re using it for everyday, casual wear, as you can’t build up this foundation as well as the Double Wear. I still think this is a great foundation if you just wanted a quick, on-the-go ‘no-makeup, makeup look’.
