I’ve always been an eczema sufferer since birth. When I was a child, I used to have eczema all over my body. However, luckily as I’ve grown into my adult stage of life, I only predominantly get it on my hands. I do get the odd small dry, scaly and itchy patches on my face, but they normally fade quicker. I’ve searched high and low for the best products for eczema, and I think I may have found the one!
“Eczema is described as ‘atopic’, as it is caused by an allergen that causes the body to react and present symptoms of eczema.”
***Just a warning, if you are slightly squeamish, there are some images of my hands before the treatment. So, if you don’t like looking at things like this, you may want to click off this page or skip past the images in the second paragraph after this body of text.
What Are The Best Products for Eczema?
I’ve tried so many brands claiming to help with eczema. I’ve been prescribed many different creams, lotions and ointments, and none have helped. Since I worked in a pharmacy, it meant that I saw a large array of products available for eczema sufferers. I had recently been sent products from Cetraben, which has a range of emollient products. I had used similar products in the past by E45, Doublebase, Dermol and Diprobase, but none have worked for me. I was sceptical about Cetraben, but how I was so wrong!
How My Hands Looked Before The Treatment
So, just before I go into the products, I wanted to share the images I took of my hands prior to starting my treatment with Cetraben. They look absolutely horrible, if I do say so myself. So, a warning again, if you don’t like seeing images of skin disorders, just skip past this section!
Cetraben Lotion 50ml
I thoroughly enjoyed using this lotion. It absorbed into my skin straight away. The lotion made my skin feel soft and very hydrated. I love how light the lotion is in comparison to the cream, and it doesn’t make my skin feel greasy. I tended to use this product throughout the day, so I applied it about 3-5 times with a few hours apart. The lotion is in a small dispensable pump, so it is very handy to keep in your handbag.
Cetraben Cream 50ml
I didn’t enjoy the cream as much as the lotion admittedly. This is only because I don’t like putting on creams with a thick consistency, as my skin doesn’t absorb it straight away. However, this cream is great to use at night time for when you’re about to go to bed. I like to put on cotton gloves that you can buy at your local chemist. I wear the gloves over my hands overnight after applying the cream. This helps to prevent me from scratching my skin when I’m sleeping and also prevents moisture from evaporating from my hands during the night.
Cetraben Daily Cleaning Lotion 200ml
This Daily Cleansing Lotion was very different from what I thought it’d be. I was a bit anxious using it on my face as a cleanser, as I have combination skin. I go from having dry skin in the morning, to oily skin as the day goes on. I used the Cleaning Lotion first thing every morning for two weeks, and my skin felt incredibly hydrated. It made putting on foundation a much nicer task, as I didn’t have dry patches all over my face. The lotion washes off very easily and is very light. You can use it as a soap substitute in the shower as well, but I haven’t personally tried it yet.
Results of Using Cetraben
My skin has been transformed in two weeks by using all three products collaboratively. I can’t believe the difference, especially with my hands. They were very dry, cracked and scaly before starting the treatment. Now, my skin is soft, crack-free and hydrated. The horrible scaliness has subsided, and I think I have found my miracle product. If you are a dermatitis sufferer, I would highly recommend these products. However, if your skin doesn’t take well to emollient-based products, I don’t think this is for you. Even if you don’t suffer any skin conditions, and you’re just looking to keep your skin nice and soft through the winter months, this line is a good one to try.
