Going Candle-less With Dunelm?
So, you’re probably wondering why the title is about going candle-less with Dunelm…and this is not a sponsored post!
I thought this post would be useful for those who are renting homes or moving to uni where using candles could be a fire hazard. I did a little homeware shop around Dunelm recently and purchased a range of products ranging from budget to some that you can splash out on (because who doesn’t love a good fragrance haul!).
Low Budget? No Problem!
Starting with a lower budget to a higher budget, the first product on the list is the room spray!
Room sprays are fantastic if you want instant fragrance, rather than waiting for the fragrance to diffuse over time – like using a reed diffuser.
As well as being a quick fix, it is a very affordable range by Dunelm! Just be careful about which room spray you pick up, as you need to look for packaging similar to the packaging below, as there are other brands (such as Dorma), which are more expensive.
My favourite scent out of the range has to be the Jasmine & Ylang Ylang! This fragrance is light and floral. This range is only £2.99, so definitely one way to fragrance your room if you’re on a budget!
Fragrance beads are another great way to leave your room smelling like a botanical garden. This product is not from Dunelm, but is another great budget way. This is the Franc Franc Peony & Lily Fragrance Beads. The beads release the fragrance over time and decrease in size, as time goes on.
Diffuse Your Room
The next simple way to keep your room smelling rosy, are reed diffusers. They don’t require having to remember to spray your room or use electricity – to keep your electric bills down!
Diffusers are great as they can last for a few months depending on the size that you purchase. I tend to use fewer reeds so that the fragrance doesn’t diffuse too quickly. Doing this also means you have a few spares, so you can change the reeds for efficient diffusion of the fragrance.
I really love the Elements range from Dunelm! I purchased the Elements Sea Reed Diffuser for my bathroom, and it is honestly one of the best diffusers I’ve ever purchased. No expensive reed diffuser has come close to this one, as the fragrance is very apparent every time you enter the room. I purchased the 200ml version, which is an amazing £12. However, there is a 400ml version, which is still an affordable £20, if you want something that will last longer.
Some of my other favourite diffusers have to be from Zoella and the My Eden collection, and the Daisy Dip by Lily-Flame. I found out about Lily-Flame when I was on a fragrance hunt through John Lewis. TOP TIP: Diffusers can be quite expensive, and the Daisy Dip 100ml Diffuser was £20. However, if you buy the Daisy Dip 200ml Refill, it’s £12. So, I decided to save myself some money and get the refill. It’s exactly the same fragrance and I get double the amount, so I’m not complaining!
The Electric Candle
Candles are great, but the smoke that it leaves behind when you blow it out can really cloud your room. This means you tend to smell the smoke for a while before you can smell the fragrance of the candle. Not to mention the smoke and flames from candles can set off fire alarms!
So, if you want to go smokeless, the Ultrasonic Diffuser may be the one for you! The one I picked from the Dunelm collection was the Ellia Connect Ultrasonic Diffuser, priced at £35. It has a mood light, which is great for night-time relaxation. Aromatherapy is used to help alleviate your mood, so the product comes with two free samples so that you can start using the diffuser right away.
A few drops of the aromatherapy oil, goes a very long way, as the scent is quite strong. The refills are around £8-£10, so it can get a little expensive. However, this Ultrasonic Diffuser will guarantee evening relaxation after a long, stressful day.
I hope you enjoyed learning about different types of ways to scent your rooms!
