Thinking Of Upgrading Your Mobile Phone Plan? Looking To Save Money On Your Next Mobile Contract?
I upgraded my mobile phone plan in the last week!
I’m back at it with my money-saving series and today is all about mobile phone plans!
I just wanted to quickly start off by saying that this blog post is not sponsored. I am in no way affiliated with EE. I have genuinely written this article as I aim to help others save money, so they can spend their savings on better things!
I currently have a SIM-only mobile phone plan with EE and I was paying approximately £17 a month, which included unlimited minutes, unlimited texts and 3GB of data. It was also a 12-month contract.
I was due to upgrade this month, as my 12-month contract was almost over.
I did some research online with other mobile network companies and I came across a fantastic deal with Three Network. It included unlimited minutes, unlimited texts and 4GB of data as it was also a 12-month contract. All of this for an amazing £10!
How Do I Get A Better Mobile Phone Plan Deal Than What Is Stated On The Phone Operator Website?
Considering I have been a loyal customer to EE, I felt a bit too attached to leave them, as I’ve always had a good experience with them and I’ve always received good coverage around the UK using EE.
I gave EE a call on their ‘150′ number, and managed to get straight through (must be my lucky day!).
Then, I asked if they could help me match a SIM-only deal or I’ll need to retrieve my PAC code (it allows you to transfer your current mobile number to another mobile operator).
The customer service at EE is a 5/5 in my books, as we told them the better deal that we found with Three and they told us they can match the deal!
The deal was £9.99 a month for 12-months! Result!
I get unlimited texts, unlimited minutes, 4GB data and I was even upgraded to their 4GEE Max Plan. The 4GEE Max Plan includes: the use of my unlimited minutes, texts, 4GB data in the EU, Australia, Canada, Mexico, New Zealand and USA; 24 months BT Sport app access; and the fastest UK data speeds.
Don’t always look at mobile operator websites and assume that they’re the only deals that they do!
This was my initial mistake when I started my pay-monthly plans!
Call your mobile phone operator directly and see if they will offer you deals that cater better to you, especially if you’re a loyal customer!
I always check my data usage through the EE iPhone app. I realised I never fully used up my previous 3GB data on my old contract, so 3 or 4GB is perfect for me. This may not be the case for others! So I suggest getting the app for your phone operator or check their website!
I hope this little trick will help you save money, as this has helped me save £7 a month, which is a massive £84 a year! I even get an extra 1GB of data, as well as being able to use it in certain places abroad!
The package is the 12-month SIM-only 4GEE Max Plan with 4GB of data, which is actually worth £24.99. So, I saved £14.99 by calling up as well, which is a MASSIVE total saving of £179.88 in 12-months!
