“Jenny, how do you always get your hair so curly?!”
My friends have always asked me what my secret is for keeping my hair curly all day. So, I’m about to reveal all! You only need 3 ESSENTIAL HAIR PRODUCTS in your life.
First of All, What Do I Even Use To Curl My Hair?
I use a straightener, rather than a curling wand/barrel. I have found that straighteners are much more effective at helping my hair hold a curl. This is because I have more control over how tight or loose I want the curls. My hair is naturally stick straight, so straighteners stops my hair from being so frizzy. I personally use the Babyliss Vintage Glamour Ceramic Smooth 230.
How Do I Prep My Hair Before Styling?
Before styling my hair, I ALWAYS wash my hair. (Some people may disagree with this step, as they believe that natural oils in your hair eases the process when styling your hair. So, feel free to skip this!) The most important step is to ALWAYS condition after shampooing. This will help your hair seal in moisture. There is more about this on my post on haircare here!
Following towel-drying my hair, I like to use 1-2 pumps of the L’Oréal Elvive Extraordinary Oil 100ml on the lengths of my damp hair. This helps to detangle and rehydrate my hair. The oil is also the runnier version, I like to use the thicker 50ml oil following styling my hair. I then blow-dry my hair until it is completely dry.
What Are the 3 Products You NEED to Make Your Curls Last Longer?!
Lee Stafford CoCo LoCo Heat Protection Spray
I start off by spritzing the CoCo LoCo Heat Protection Spray all over the lengths of my hair. This prevents my hair from being heat damaged. It’s a lightweight spray, so it won’t weigh down your curls. I can now style my hair using the straightener!
L’Oreal Elvive Extraordinary Oil 50ml
I love to use one pump of this oil after styling my hair. This helps to smooth out any fly-away hair, and really finishes off the curls to give it a polished look.
TRESemmé Extra Hold Hairspray
I use this TRESemmé hairspray all over my hair to keep my curls in place all day. It’s a fine spray, so it shouldn’t add weight to your curls. It doesn’t cause your hair to stick together, so it allows your hair to be free-flowing all day.
I hope this post helps you achieve the curls you’ve been wishing for!
